This disc is awesome! My jack russell mix LOVES to play frisbee so I have tried out lots and lots of different brands. The Jaws Hyperflite has definitely lasted the longest. I love that the plastic is soft like rubber so that it doesn't shatter or bash her in the teeth and gums when she catches it in the air, but is also dense enough that she can't easily get her teeth in it and chew it up. I have tried other foam and soft rubber discs that would probably last a long time, but they don't fly well at all so she is completely uninterested in them. I attached pics of the brands I use most often. I used to buy "Petsport" aka "Tuffdisc" at Pet Depot because they fly well and are fairly cheap, but they tear up easy. They shatter and crack which can cause damage to gums and teeth. I really like Hyperflite's Competition Standard disc. It is softer than regular discs so it doesn't shatter and flys great with very like effort, but my dog can get her teeth in it pretty easy so after a couple weeks it's chewed on to the point that it doesn't fly straight anymore. The pics are of the two mentioned brands after 2 weeks of play (I don't let her chew them when we aren't playing catch, but she gets some gnawing in anyway) and then the Jaws disc after 3 weeks of play. You can see that the Jaws disc is in much better condition than the others and actually still looks new. I thought this disc was a little pricey, but if it's going to last a really long time it's totally worth it. We love this disc!!

My German shepherd would rather chase a frisbee than do anything else. He loves his zogoflex zisc, which is a year old and still like new. When he misplaced it, I decided to order this glow in the dark disc. It is a quality product, thinner and lighter than the zisc, and flies farther with less effort to throw. I put it under a flourescent desk light for about 10 minutes, and it still glows long after I am tired of throwing it. Its a hoot to see it floating over the back yard and suddenly change course once the dog jumps up and grabs it! It is very durable and shows no marks after nearly a week of spirited play. Jaeger chews up a regular plastic frisbee in minutes.

My two dogs both love playing with frisbees. I would buy cheap promotional types of flying discs for my dogs when I would see them at goodwill. They would be broken within five minutes of playing with them though. I have bought better frisbee-brand discs hoping they would last longer. They did last longer, but it still wasn't long before they had teeth holes, cracks and were distorted so badly that they didn't fly straight. After doing some research, I decided to try the Jawz disc. I have had it for a couple weeks now and play with the dogs almost daily with it. So far there is not a hole or any other damage to be seen. The graphics on the top have pretty much worn off, but I don't care about that. I only play with one dog at a time, because after one dog catches it, the other would grab hold and a tug-of-war would ensue. I haven't been willing to see if it would hold up to that kind of abuse. As some reviewers have noted, it is a heavier disc, so it won't float softly and gently like the cheaper light-weight discs. Because of that, you have to put more effort and speed into the throw and consequently you need a fairly large area to use this. We have a pretty decent sized back yard and it's almost not big enough. Because of this, it does take some practice to figure out how to throw it in a smaller area. Nonetheless, it is awesome and I'm glad I bought it.I chose the glow-in-the-dark model just because it was the cheapest option when I purchased it (and I was a little skeptical of how long it would last). I don't think it glows well enough to play in the dark though I honestly haven't tried that. Also, I was playing with my dogs when there was a light snow on the ground. If they miss the catch, it can be a little difficult for them to find this color in the snow.

I rescued a blue heeler mix last spring and discovered over the summer that he LOVES frisbees. He doesn't chew or shake them and actually carries them back very gently, but when he is going up to catch it, he snaps down hard enough to shatter dollar store frisbees. I tried 3 or 4 replacements before I settled down and did some research and found this one to have generally the highest rating. It's a tad heavier, so it gets pretty good distance but not heavy enough to make his mouth bleed. The heavier frisbees he recognized after one retrieval that it hurt and would wait for it to hit the ground before retrieving. You need to put some backspin on it if you want a shorter floating throw, but my dude is pretty high energy so I typically just stick with the longer throws to wear him out. The glow doesn't last a super long time, but I can periodically charge it with my truck's headlights between throws.. really the point is that it is still somewhat visible at dusk and he doesn't lose it in flight as a result, so mission accomplished. I will never buy another brand of frisbee.
