★★★★★ Five StarsI have written about this "Doggy and Kitty Hoots" brand of toy a few times. They last forever, and my big dogs are aggressive chewers. The sewing is sturdy, but even if an arm or leg is torn off, it won't affect the rest of the toy. My dogs absolutely love shaking them. "Maximum Floppability" is the term the company uses, and it makes the shaking action especially enjoyable. The fabric is sturdy as well, so the squeaker lasts longer inside the body of the toy. What's awesome, too, is they are very entertaining characters, which makes them appealing to us humans! They are by far my favorite dog toys for the last decade - I have every character and only replace them when they eventually begin to fade outdoors from the extremely hot Texas sun. They're also washable, which is always a plus!
★★★★★ Five StarsWe had a version of this for 15 years with our last dog. It was the toughest toy she ever had and she loved to shake it and and play tug with us with it. It is made of a heavy denim fabric (still soft enough for her to mouth - but tough). We still have it near our dog's ashes (she is, sadly, gone). We wanted to order another for a puppy we are about to get and I didn't pay enough attention. This is a MINI version of that toy. It is SO CUTE but it is definitely MINI - suitable for young puppies or very small dogs. Our original one was probably 8-10 inches long and perfect for a 40+ pound dog. This MINI is like 5 inches long. I don't know what I was looking at when I ordered it, but it clearly says MINI here now. Too soon to say whether puppy will like it or if it will last as long as the last one.
★★★★★ Five StarsI got this toy because I had such good luck with another from the same company, the Doggy Hoots Crackler Woodland Raccoon, which has survived roughly 100x longer than any other stuffed toy my dog (a relatively unferocious 50-lb dalmatian/terrier mix) has put his teeth into. This one seems in the same, sturdy mold, if not actually sturdier stitching around the "hinges." I'm convinced that this company knows what they're doing. There's just two minor faults that I'll point to:* The squeaker didn't last but a day. My dog managed to pierce it so that it no longer squeaks. This is not a knock on the toy since this happens with every squeaker toy we've had, and the broken squeaker does not make the toy any less appealing to my dog.* The toy arrives looking bright and colorful but after a couple of days of dog slobber its color and brightness has faded significantly.
★★★★★ Five StarsThis toy is great for dogs who like to chew soft toys or who have strong teeth. I have two large dogs who play with this toy. Most toys are busted open in just a few minutes but this one takes them a while. Even after they get a little hole in the fabric it does not shred or come apart like other toys, so we take the stuffing out and the toy lives on for several more months (in our house that's a big deal!). If your dog is not large or doesn't play hard on toys, this toy will likely last you forever. For those of you who have the same issue as us, it at least curbs the constant stream of money we could spend on toys.
★★★★★ Five StarsThis is my dog's second Terrible Nasty Scaries kitty. Her first one was Dirty Rotten Kitty, which her Momma ruined. She was devastated. (I tried to dry it in the microwave when I washed it and forgot all about the sqeaker, which melted. Bad Momma!) So I bought a replacement. This time we got Terrible Mean Kitty. My pup LOVES it. It is durable and holds up quite well to her shaking the daylights out of it. I bought one for my granddog, too, but he managed to "eat" his and it had to be thrown away. In this toy's defense, my granddog also ate a razor (okay, just the handle - we found the razor blade on the bathroom floor), an ottoman (he ate a lot of the stuffing, any way), my daughter's college textbook, and countless other things. He could eat a Sherman tank! The two purchased for my "normal" dog have held up beautifully. She had her first one for 5 years before Momma ruined it. These dog toys were built to last!
