I like this KONG activity ball much better than the regular shaped KONG toy we already had with one hole at the end. This is a very versatile toy and we put different food items inside for different challenge levels. We break up crackers, pretzels, chips, trying to make the pieces somewhat large so they don't come out too easily. We don't use dog biscuits much, but I guess they would work well also. Our puppy doesn't get to have "people food" very much so he gets pretty excited when we throw him the ball with the broken up food in it and I think it's excellent brain activity as well as light physical exercise which keeps him occupied while you busy yourself for a little while without having to worry about him getting into mischief. Only problem is our puppy has a habit of rolling the ball under or behind something and it gets stuck, whereupon he has a "fit" of barking and/or scratching until someone comes and gets it for him!

This ball is really great. I got it thinking "Oh I'll have to put treats in it for Dany to be interested in it. But only if it lasts and she doesn't chew through it". I'm glad to say both of those things are wrong. I have used this ball without treats and she still keeps interest and will fetch it or just sit chew on it with virtually NO damage.Pros:- Many options to insert treats in either the ridges or on the inside (fill it with peanut butter and your dog will love you and this toy forever)- Durable- Your dog will play with this even without inserting treats, it's fun and the not-so-round-shape will bounce it in many directions keeping your pup on his/her toesCons:- I don't have any right now, but will update this review if something goes wrong with it.

I gave this to my (now almost 1 year old) puppy over six months ago and it's still going strong. He loves it! Even when the treats are gone he still finds it fun to chew on this ball and chase it around. He has become an expert at getting just about anything out of it though, so it is probably time to upgrade or, at least, supplement this one with one for dogs instead of puppies. He has been entertained by this toy for hours and hours and hours. A very good purchase that I would recommend to others.

This is a great way to engage your dog while you feed him and it is a great for teething puppies too. The rubber is a little softer than many of the kong products so my teething puppy (4.5mo chocolate lab/german shepard mix) loves it! Some people complained about not being able to fit things into it, I have not had this problem. Yes, kibble comes out easily but it is still more natural and forces the dog to slow down a bit than if it was in a bowl. I normally mix a few larger treats in too, my dog's favorite are the 'Real Meat Lamb' which are a soft jerky like product. He will normally get the kibble within about 10 minutes then he sits down and sucks/chews on the kong to get the larger treats out. Also, mixing a few larger treats in helps slow the kibble down a little bit too.

I don't understand why KONG says to stop using this after the puppy is 9 months old. It's a great toy and a perfect way to hide a milkbone to keep my dog occupied as I walk out the door, virtually eliminating her separation anxiety. My dog is 18 months old now and the toy is still in perfect condition. It's not the easiest thing to wash b/c of the odd grooves, but that's a small price to pay. Even without treats stuck inside it, it's on my dogs top 3 toys.
